Last week, Miss Elsa’s class talked about how the Bible is filled with stories about God doing amazing things a long time ago. The students listened to excerpts from both parts of the Bible and discussed the difference between the Old and New Testaments. Decorating small wooden treasure boxes with uplifting Bible passages and dried flowers was a fun activity to help reflect on God’s enduring love for us as expressed in the Bible. The older Faith Formation group also talked about the parts of the Bible, how the different books are organized, and the various themes throughout God’s story. We then reflected on how scripture informs our way of knowing God. Along with Tradition, and Reason, Scripture is a key element. Constructing small wooden three-legged stools was a lighthearted yet impactful way to make this metaphor memorable. We concluded our class time with a brief lesson on the meaning of Shrove Tuesday and the many traditions associated with this special day before Lent (including Pancakes for dinner!). As the season of Lent arrives, we look forward to continued learning and growth throughout our faith journey.
