Last week, Miss Elsa’s students learned about the origin of Valentine’s Day and then read The Very Best Day: The Way of Love for Children. Spending time discussing ways that we can share God’s love each day was the inspiration for crafting handmade Valentine’s cards that were later distributed to the Community Lunch attendees at the East End Cooperative Ministry. The older students reflected on Saint Paul’s definition of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 and then watched, The Way of Love Practices for a Jesus-Centered Life. This short video provided a brief overview of each of the seven practices of the Way of Love: Turn. Learn. Pray. Worship. Bless. Go. Rest. The students then made cards and candy bags for the EECM shelter residents.
